QSE Physiology, Nutrition, Immunology and Vaccines Review
Physiology and Nutrition and Immunology and Vaccines are two of the nine subcategories in Foundations of Veterinary Medicine, the 54-question first domain of the 2027 AAVSB Qualifying Science Examination (QSE). They are also the base that most Veterinary Medicine by System questions build on. This review covers the high-yield physiology of metabolic disease, species-specific nutrition, passive transfer and hypersensitivity, and the core vaccine recommendations used in North American practice, with original practice questions at the end.
Last verified on 6 October 2026 against the AAVSB Study for the QSE page, the Merck Veterinary Manual and the current AAHA, AAHA/AAFP and AAEP vaccination guidelines. navleexam.com is not affiliated with the AAVSB, AVMA, ICVA or PSI. This is a study aid: always check vaccine labels, current guidelines and state law before applying any protocol in practice.
Where These Subcategories Fit
In the 2027 outline, Immunology and Vaccines is subcategory C and Physiology and Nutrition is subcategory E of Foundations of Veterinary Medicine. The AAVSB publishes only the subcategory titles, not per-subcategory question counts or topic lists. What follows is our judgment of the high-yield content. For the full domain, see the QSE Foundations of Veterinary Medicine guide.
