PAVE QSE Endocrine Review: High-Yield Diseases by Species

Endocrine disease is one of the nine body systems in Domain 2 of the AAVSB's 2027 Qualifying Science Examination (QSE) outline, Veterinary Medicine by System. It is a favorite area for case questions, because a short history plus a few laboratory values can point to one diagnosis and one best test. This review covers the high-yield endocrine diseases by gland and species, with tables of tests and treatments, and five original practice questions.

This page is part of our guide to the Veterinary Medicine by System domain, within the wider QSE study guide for 2027. Clinical facts were checked against the Merck Veterinary Manual and FDA safety communications on 6 October 2026. navleexam.com is not affiliated with AAVSB, AVMA, ICVA or PSI. Doses below are for exam revision only; in practice, use the current label and guidelines.

How Endocrinology Fits the 2027 QSE

Veterinary Medicine by System has 93 of the 155 questions in the 2027 outline, and "Endocrine" is one of its nine subcategories. The AAVSB does not publish a count for each system. The domain title asks for pathology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention, so for every disease you should know the signalment, the key laboratory changes, the screening and confirmatory tests, and the first-line treatment and how it is monitored.
