QSE Passing Score: The 200-800 Scale and What 425 Means
The passing score for the AAVSB's Qualifying Science Examination (QSE) is a scaled score of 425, on a scale that runs from 200 to 800. The AAVSB does not report QSE results as a number or percentage of questions correct, so there is no official "pass percentage". This guide explains what a scaled score is, why 425 is not 42.5% or any other simple fraction, and how to use your result whether you passed or not.
The QSE is the science exam in PAVE, the AAVSB's pathway for graduates of non-accredited veterinary schools. For the full picture of the exam, see our QSE 2027 format and registration guide, and for practice under timed conditions, our QSE practice questions mapped to the 2027 outline.
