QSE Practice Questions with Answers and Explanations
The best way to find out where you stand on the Qualifying Science Examination (QSE) is to answer questions under realistic conditions. Below are 10 original practice questions written for this article, spread across the three domains of the QSE outline that applies from January 2027. Each has four options (A to D), as on the real QSE, plus the answer and a short explanation. They are not official AAVSB questions and are not copied from any exam or published question set; they are written to reflect the style and level of a science exam that covers the first three years of an accredited veterinary curriculum.
How These Questions Map to the 2027 Outline
The AAVSB's 2027 outline has 155 scored questions: 54 in Foundations of Veterinary Medicine, 93 in Veterinary Medicine by System Including Pathology, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention, and 8 in One Health and Professional Standards. This set follows a similar balance: four Foundations questions, five by-system questions and one One Health question. For the full outline and what changed from the old six-domain version, see our QSE 2027 guide.
Cover the answers, give yourself about one minute per question, and write down your choice before reading on.
